Hyde Park, South Tampa, Ybor City, Town 'N Country will be treated early morning and evening

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 8, 2026) - Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services will conduct aerial applications of Dibrom insecticide to control adult mosquitoes from Sept. 9 to Sept. 11 at the following times and locations:

Sept. 9 -- 4 to 6 a.m.

Hyde Park/South Tampa

  • North Boundary: Columbus Drive
  • South Boundary: Bayshore Boulevard/West San Miguel Street
  • East Boundary: Hillsborough River/Hillsborough Bay
  • West Boundary: Manhattan Avenue

Ybor City

  • North Boundary: East 21st Avenue
  • South Boundary: Lee Roy Selmon Expressway
  • East Boundary: North 39th Street
  • West Boundary: North Taliaferro Avenue

Sept. 9 -- 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sept. 10

Town 'N Country

  • North Boundary: Linebaugh Avenue
  • South Boundary: Memorial Highway
  • East Boundary: Veterans Expressway
  • West Boundary: Montague Street

These missions will be flown by helicopter at an altitude of 150 feet. South Tampa and Ybor City will be treated with an application rate of one ounce per acre. Town 'N Country will be treated with an application rate of .66 ounces per acre.

  • Second alternate spray date: Sept. 11, 2026

Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services is urging residents across Hillsborough County to take action to protect themselves from mosquitoes. Mosquito Management crews are increasing treatments by air and ground because the County's mosquito traps in many neighborhoods are showing dengue fever virus activity in the mosquito populations.

The County is working closely with the Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County for surveillance, education, and treatment in the impacted areas.

Residents can help as well by following the 3 Ds:

  • Dress in light-colored, long-sleeved clothing with closed-toed shoes.
  • Defend using an insect repellent with a CDC-recommended ingredient such as DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
  • Dump or cover standing water.
