Hyde Park and Ybor City will be treated overnight and into early morning Wednesday

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 1, 2026) - Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services will conduct aerial applications of Dibrom insecticide to control adult mosquitoes on Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 8:30 p.m. through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the following locations:

Hyde Park/South Tampa

  • North Boundary: Columbus Drive
  • South Boundary: Bayshore Boulevard/West San Miguel Street
  • East Boundary:Hillsborough River/Hillsborough Bay
  • West Boundary: Manhattan Avenue

The Hyde Park treatment mission will take place between 8:30 p.m. Sept. 1 and 6 a.m. Sept. 2.

Ybor City

  • North Boundary: I-4
  • South Boundary: Lee Roy Selmon Expressway
  • East Boundary: North 39th Street
  • West Boundary: North Taliaferro Avenue

The Ybor City treatment mission will take place between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sept. 2.

The missions will be flown by helicopter at an altitude of 150 feet, with an application rate of .66 ounces per acre.

  • First alternate spray date: Sept. 2, 2026
  • Second alternate spray date: Sept. 3, 2026

Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services is urging residents across Hillsborough County to take action to protect themselves.

Mosquito Management crews are increasing treatments by air and ground because the County's mosquito traps in many neighborhoods are showing dengue fever virus activity in the mosquito populations.

The County is working closely with the Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County for surveillance, education, and treatment in the impacted areas.

Residents can help as well by following the 3 Ds:

  • Dress in light-colored, long-sleeved clothing with closed-toed shoes.
  • Defend using an insect repellent with a CDC-recommended ingredient such as DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
  • Dump or cover standing water.
