Brandon and Seffner areas will be treated by low-flying helicopter
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Aug. 31, 2026) - Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services and Manatee County Mosquito Control District are closing a busy August with more aerial applications of Dibrom and Fyfanone insecticides to control adult mosquitoes on Monday, Aug. 31, from 8:30 p.m. through 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the following locations:
Seffner/Brandon
- North Boundary:Bessie Dix Road
- South Boundary: Bloomingdale Avenue
- East Boundary: Gallagher Road
- West Boundary: U.S. 41
The mission will be flown by helicopter at an altitude of 150 feet, with an application rate of one ounce per acre.
- First alternate spray date: Sept. 1, 2026
- Second alternate spray date: Sept. 2, 2026
Hillsborough County Mosquito Management is urging residents across Tampa to take action to protect themselves.
Mosquito Management crews are increasing treatments by air and ground because our mosquito traps in many neighborhoods are showing Dengue Fever virus activity in the mosquito populations.
Our team has worked closely with FDOH Hillsborough for surveillance, education, and treatment in the impacted area.
Residents need to do their part as well by following the 3 Ds:
- Dress light-colored, long-sleeved clothing with closed-toed shoes.
- Defend using an insect repellent with a CDC-recommended ingredient such as DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, or Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus.
- Dump or cover standing water.
