Hillsborough County, Fla. (Aug. 3, 2026) - Hillsborough County and St. Vincent de Paul CARES on Tuesday will celebrate the opening of a 60-bed shelter for veterans experiencing homelessness.
The Hillsborough CARE Center will provide shelter and supportive services designed to help veterans achieve stability and eventually transition into permanent housing.
The center represents a major investment in veteran services in the Tampa Bay region, expanding access to emergency shelter, housing resources, and support for veterans who are homeless, emerging from homelessness, or disabled. The campus was extensively renovated and transformed into a welcoming environment where veterans can begin their journey from homelessness to permanent housing.
Hillsborough County contributed $4.4 million in State Housing Initiatives Partnership program funds to improve the property and rehabilitate the buildings that will house the veterans.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 1409 E. Seneca Ave., Tampa, FL 33612.
St. Vincent de Paul CARES is a nonprofit organization committed to ending homelessness, with a philosophy that everyone has the right to live in dignified and affordable housing.
