Hillsborough's Rebuilding for Tomorrow program will help provide financial assistance for damaged multifamily housing as well as single-family housing

Hillsborough County, Fla. (May 18, 2026) - Hillsborough County is holding two community engagement meetings on Thursday, May 21, as part of its Rebuilding for Tomorrow program to help with repairs and rebuilding for multifamily properties that experienced damage from Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The sessions will bring together affordable housing developers, multifamily property owners, public housing agencies, community-based organizations, and housing advocates to learn about and provide input on the County's Multifamily Rehabilitation and Development Program.

During each meeting, stakeholders will receive an overview of how the program will work, eligibility requirements, and what to expect when the County releases its Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) planned for June. The County will award up to $60 million in funding for eligible affordable multifamily rehabilitation and development. Attendees will also have the opportunity to share their ideas and help shape how the funding is used to address Hillsborough County's most critical housing needs.

Both sessions will be at the Robert W. Saunders Public Library, 1505 Nebraska Ave., Tampa, FL 33602. The morning session will be at 10 a.m. and will focus on small-scale multifamily development, defined as properties with five to 49 units. The afternoon session will be at 2 p.m. and will focus on large-scale multifamily development, defined as properties with more than 50 units.

The meeting is part of the County's ongoing efforts to expand safe, resilient, and affordable housing options following recent storm impacts.
