Hillsborough County, Fla. (April 23, 2026) - Hillsborough County Commissioners are seeking applications for the District 3 Representative to the Hillsborough County Veteran's Advisory Board. Applications are due by close of business on May 20, 2026.

Residents interested in seeking an appointment must reside in Hillsborough County District 3 and be registered voters in Hillsborough County. This position is voluntary and members serve without compensation.

Citizens interested in being considered for appointment must submit: a complete Application/Questionnaire and a Standards of Conduct Form. This can be submitted using the Online Application and Standards of Conduct Form.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY VETERAN'S ADVISORY BOARD

The Hillsborough County Veteran's Advisory Board (HCVAB) serve in an advisory capacity to the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), to serve in an advisory capacity to Hillsborough County Veteran Community Services Department, and the Conservation & Environmental Lands Management Department to effectuate development of the Veterans Resource Center additional phases, the memorials and grounds of Hillsborough County Veteran's Memorial Park, and revitalization of the museum as outlined in the most current Master Plan created by the University of South Florida and adopted by the board in November 2022. HCVAB serves as a convener of community groups whose interest is in the provision of resources to the veterans, their spouses, and the family members of veterans who reside in Hillsborough County. The HCVAB will deliver an annual report to the BOCC detailing priorities, goals, and issues pertaining to veterans and their families.

One District 3 Representative position is vacant. Member shall serve until the Board's delineation date of June 2027.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  1. Served in the Armed Forces and received an honorable discharge with a minimum of four years' service (preference given to those who have retired by years of service or medically retired from active service);
  2. Resume of veteran-related community service;
  3. Educational background and work experience that would significantly contribute to the board when serving as a member; and
  4. Identify all memberships in professional organizations.
  5. Must reside in District 3

This board is subject to Section 286.011, Florida Statutes, also known as the Sunshine Law.
