It's quick, easy, and convenient to submit an online ticket
Hillsborough County maintains more than 3,400 miles of sidewalks. For perspective, that's enough sidewalk to span - in a straight line - from Hillsborough County all the way to Juneau, Alaska.
Because there is so much concrete to oversee, help from residents is welcome. If you see uplifted sidewalks or gaps in the pathway, you can request a repair.
Submit a sidewalk repair request online
To submit a sidewalk repair request online, go to the At Your Service Maintenance form.
Be sure to include the exact address where the sidewalk is located. If you are unsure of the address, provide the nearest intersection and any landmarks (like a business or sign) or other information that will help identify the location.
If you are unable to submit a request online, call Public Works Customer Service at (813) 635-5400.
Sidewalk repair process
Once you submit the case, Public Works will research the request and determine if the issue has already been reported. Repairs are focused on preserving sidewalks and promoting safety.
If the location has not been previously inspected, technicians will be dispatched to inspect and identify all issues.
Once the inspection has been completed, a repair option will be recommended.
Repairs and replacements are prioritized by the age of the request. While older requests are usually selected first, repairs are generally grouped by proximity.
Sidewalk Repair Partnership Program
The Sidewalk Repair Partnership Program helps homeowners in unincorporated Hillsborough County fix their sidewalks, making our communities safer and more accessible.
This program benefits both the County and homeowners by providing funding for sidewalk repairs. Homeowners oversee the repair projects, from choosing vendors to completing the work.
The maximum amount awarded is $1,500 per funded project. Applicants must meet criteria to be eligible.
How does the program work?
Online applications can be submitted annually Oct. 1 through June 30, or until program funds run out.
The County will notify applicants who meet the Project Types and Eligibility Criteria. The first 150 approved applications will be accepted, and the remaining accepted applications will be waitlisted.
Accepted applicants must submit program documents within 30 days of being accepted into the program. These documents include a signed Letter of Understanding, Right-of-Way (ROW) Use permit, and a vendor quote.
After the documents are received, the County will review the materials. The program manager will create a purchase order and send a Notice to Proceed confirming the chosen vendor, project scope, and guaranteed program award. No new purchase orders will be created after July 31.
When an applicant receives the Notice to Proceed, they can schedule sidewalk repairs with the vendor, obtain photographs, and compile closure documents. Projects must be completed and invoiced by Sept. 7. Hillsborough County will pay the vendor directly after receiving and reviewing the closure documents.
