Hillsborough County, Fla. (April 3, 2025) - Progress Village residents have two ways to learn more about an upcoming extended road closure on Progress Boulevard.
Progress Boulevard will need to close for about 60 days beginning in May as part of the Progress Village Regional Drainage Improvements project. The road will be closed at Progress Boulevard between 82nd Street and 85th Street and is expected to last from mid-May until mid-July. As with any construction project, inclement weather may impact and delay the work.
Residents can learn more about the closure and provide feedback on the County's Education and Engagement Hub through April 15.
Residents also can learn more about the road closure at an open house at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Emanuel P. Johnson Recreation Center, 5855 S. 78th St., Tampa, FL 33619.
The regional drainage improvements project is necessary to reduce roadway flooding and improve overall water quality. When the road closure begins, drivers can use S. 78th Street and U.S. 301 as alternate routes around the closure, and the detour route will be marked with road signage. Navigation apps will be updated on the detour and will route residents around the closure.
