Hillsborough County, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2025) - How a community looks can impact how residents feel. Illegal dump sites and code violations can affect health, safety, and property values throughout a neighborhood. To help prevent this, in February Hillsborough County's Rapid Response team will offer curbside pickup in the Clair Mel East and West areas for items that normally would require a trip to the landfill or Community Collection Center.
From Monday, Feb. 24, to Friday, Feb. 28, Hillsborough County residents who live in the Clair Mel East area can put furniture, junk and debris, metal, electronics, and up to five non-commercial tires at their curbside, and the Rapid Response team will haul away the materials. Items must be placed by 5 a.m. on the days of collection; placement the night before is recommended.
The same cleanup will take place in the Claire Mel West area from Monday, March 3, to Friday, March 7.
The Clair Mel East and West cleanups are open to residents who live within the following boundaries:
Clair Mel East - Feb. 24-28
North: Eau Clair Circle
South: Causeway Boulevard
East: Selmon Expressway
West: 78th Street South
Clair Mel West - March 3-7
North: 12th Avenue South
South: Causeway Boulevard
East: 78th Street South
West: 70th Street South
The cleanup opportunity is funded through annual solid waste assessments paid by community property owners. Hillsborough County Code Enforcement encourages residents to take advantage of the disposal and restore their property to avoid code violations. Yard waste, commercial vehicle tires, and hazardous chemicals will not be accepted. For information, call Code Enforcement at (813) 274-6600.
