Board recognizes A Kid's Place for its dedication to support and protect foster children in the county.
During its Feb. 19th meeting, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners presented a commendation to A Kid's Place, a nonprofit organization that protects and provides services to foster children. Brad Gregory, CEO of A Kid's Place, accepted the recognition.
Since its founding in 2009, A Kid's Place, which is based in Brandon, has shown an unwavering commitment to providing a safe, loving, and nurturing home for foster children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, abandonment, or neglect. Because of the organization's live-in House Parent model, brothers and sisters can heal together in a safe and loving homelike environment with onsite therapy and educational resources. Presently, A Kid's Place has served over 1,700 children and 753 families, and kept 522 sibling groups together.
After receiving the commendation, Gregory thanked the Board for its support in helping the organization help and protect children in need.
"Since 2009, we have worked tirelessly to raise the standard of residential care servicing these kids that are trying to heal from their trauma," he said. "With the County's help and support, we've been able to do that."
The Board also presented a proclamation [VIDEO] declaring February 29 through March 9, 2024 as [Florida Strawberry Festival Days](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy_U_NY27h8), celebrating the annual Florida Strawberry Festival.
