Hurricane Milton Update No. 107

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Jan. 31, 2025) - Hillsborough County will not extend the State of Local Emergency orders for both Hurricanes Helene and Milton as storm recovery efforts transition to normal County operations.

The order for Hurricane Helene will expire Feb. 3. The order for Hurricane Milton will expire Feb. 2. The original orders went into effect on Sept. 23 for Hurricane Helene and on Oct. 6 for Hurricane Milton as the storms approached Florida.

Hillsborough County has completed 99% of storm debris removal as of today, Jan. 31, having collected more than 4,810,705 cubic yards of debris since Hurricane Milton's landfall, which equates to 111,484 truckloads of debris. Additionally, the County's Emergecy Operations Center has returned to Level 3 Monitoring, which equates to normal daily operations.

Moving forward, should the County determine there is a need to procure any vendors for continued storm recovery efforts, staff will follow the County's normal procurement processes.
