Program is expected to have high demand and limited capacity

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2025) - An additional faith-based organization has chosen to open its doors as a part of the Hillsborough County cold weather shelter program this week in the face of the unprecedented stretch of cold weather in the county. The National Weather Service expects local temperatures to continue to dip to or below 40 degrees with wind chill in Hillsborough County for at least the next two days.

Greater New Hope Anointed Ministry in Plant City joins four other faith-based organizations to provide a warm place to stay at night for the homeless and those who live in homes without adequate heat who are unable to find other accommodations.

All five shelters, listed below, will continue to be open on Thursday and Friday nights this week. If shelters are needed over the weekend, an additional announcement will be made. Hillsborough County's Cold Weather Shelter program has been activated for a record five consecutive nights this week, and are operated and run by volunteers working at the shelters.

Shelter organizers are expecting high demand with limited capacity, so residents who need a warm place to stay are encouraged to use all resources like friends and family as a first option.

Hillsborough County is partnering with the following organizations to provide limited-capacity cold weather shelters for adults. All shelters will take in guests from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, and Friday, Jan. 24.
