Hillsborough County, Fla. (Nov. 14, 2024) - The deadline to submit nominations for the 2025 Hillsborough County Women's Hall of Fame has been extended to Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024.

The Hillsborough County Commission on the Status of Women (COSW) is accepting nominations for the highly esteemed program that was created in 2011 to celebrate the achievements of Hillsborough County women who have made significant contributions in areas such as social services, education, philanthropy, the military, and public service to improve the lives of residents.

The honor is given to three outstanding recipients each year. There have been 41 women recognized since the program started more than 10 years ago, including former University of South Florida President Judy Genshaft, local civil rights advocate Mary Alice Dorsett, and prominent Tampa Bay philanthropist and community leader Carol Morsani.

About the Hillsborough County Commission on the Status of Women

The COSW was created to study and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on issues pertaining to the status of women, including discrimination, employment, day care, education, and health care.

The COSW's 15 members include those appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and representatives from The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, The Helen Gordon Davis Centre for Women, League of Women Voters of Hillsborough County, The Spring of Tampa Bay, Hispanic Professional Women's Association, Inc., National Council of Negro Women, University of South Florida, and Hillsborough Community College.
