Hurricane Milton Update No. 70

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Nov. 1, 2024) - Two Hillsborough County Community Collection Centers are returning to regular operating hours in Plant City and Wimauma on Monday, Nov. 4, after being open extended hours to accommodate storm debris. The sites will close at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 and reopen on Monday, Nov. 4 for regular hours of operation.

The Alderman's Ford Solid Waste Facility in Plant City and the Wimauma Solid Waste Facility will both return to regular hours of operation of 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday. The sites are being scaled back to regular hours as residential storm debris drop-off has significantly decreased at the sites.

Both sites accept a variety of material including storm-related construction and demolition debris, such as drywall, carpet, and fencing; furniture; empty appliances; tires; and batteries, electronics and paint. Neither site accepts yard waste or wood disposal.

Additionally, Hillsborough County is continuing to collect storm debris from streets and neighborhoods countywide. More than 150 specialized trucks, with the capacity to collect 60,000 cubic yards of debris daily, are on the road seven days a week.
