Hillsborough County, Fla. (Oct. 24, 2024) - Hillsborough County's Pet Resource Center is holding a "Pawloween" event this weekend to help as many pets as possible find the forever homes they deserve.

The event will be at the Pet Resource Center, 440 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa, FL 33619, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, and features an adoptable pet costume contest with guests as the judges. Dogs will be outdoors in play groups from 10 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., giving potential adopters a perfect chance to see them in a less stressful setting. Community partners will be on hand to provide information and give out treats.

All adoption fees will be waived.

The Pet Resource Center was already well over capacity on dogs and cats before a recent influx of pets in the aftermath of hurricanes Helene and Milton. Adopters and foster parents are desperately needed.

The Pet Resource Center is the only open-admissions shelter in Hillsborough County, meaning the shelter accepts all dogs and cats regardless of breed, size, or medical condition. The shelter is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Photos and information of dogs and cats available for adoption are also available through PRC's online kennel.
