Board also declares October 2024 as Youth Justice Action Month
The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners presented a commendation to Film Tampa Bay during its Oct. 2 Board meeting for celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Hilary Webber, the organization's production manager, accepted the recognition on behalf of Film Commissioner Tyler Martinolich.
Since its founding in 2013, Film Tampa Bay has enriched Hillsborough County's film industry, earning it a place among the top film destinations in Florida. In the last 10 years, Hillsborough County has hosted over 4,000 productions, generating more than $100 million in direct economic impact.
Thanks to Film Tampa Bay's commitment to professional excellence, over 1,400 county residents have pursued careers in film and digital media, with film production jobs offering the highest median annual wage in Florida at over $105,000.
After accepting the commendation, Webber thanked the Board and said that it was an honor to be recognized for their hard work and success.
"Film Tampa Bay keeps Hillsborough County on-screen and seen, offering filmmaking resources that make our region one of the best filming destinations in Florida," she said.
The Board also presented the 2024 Anti-Bullying Recognition Award to Nicholas DeCastro and a proclamation declaring October 2024 as Youth Justice Action Month.
