When a potential cyclone approaches the Gulf of Mexico and threatens Tampa Bay, will you know what to do?

Having a plan and knowing your evacuation zone before hurricanes hit are the first steps in ensuring your safety.

Hillsborough County’s Hurricane Evacuation Assessment Tool (HEAT) assists in determining if you live in one of the five evacuation zones. It also provides information on shelters.

If you don’t live in an evacuation zone, it’s still important to be proactive about preparedness: 

Know what to pack in your hurricane kit and be sure to account for pets and all family members, especially those with special needs. 

Prepare your home for potential high winds and heavy rain.
