Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 5, 2024) - Part of Fern Hill Drive will close temporarily on Monday during an intersection improvement project.
Fern Hill Drive will be closed south of Gibsonton Drive on Monday, Sept. 9, and is expected to remain closed until Oct. 4. As with all construction projects, inclement weather may affect the scheduled operations and overall duration.
The temporary road closure is necessary as part of the Gibsonton Drive at Fern Hill Drive Intersection Improvement project. Work is necessary to add additional left-turn lanes from Fern Hill Drive onto Gibsonton Drive, a through lane, and an exclusive right-turn lane.
Detours have been implemented to assist motorists traveling near the work zones. Drivers are asked to use U.S. 301 to the east or East Bay Road to the west as alternative north-south routes.
This intersection improvement project is designed to improve mobility and safety for vehicles and pedestrians and includes retrofitting for compliance with the Americans with Disability Act.
