Hillsborough County Faces Further Flood Warnings in the Wake of Hurricane Milton:Read More

Hillsborough County, Fla. (June 7, 2024) - How a community looks can impact how residents feel. Illegal dump sites and code violations can affect health, safety, and property values throughout a neighborhood. To help prevent this, in June Hillsborough County's Rapid Response team will offer curbside pickup in the Florida Townsend Colony and Fortuna Acres and Speedway Park areas for items that normally would require a trip to the landfill or Community Collection Center.

From Monday, June 10, to Friday, June 14, Hillsborough County residents who live in the area can put furniture, junk and debris, metal, electronics, and up to five non-commercial tires at their curbside, and the Rapid Response team will haul away the materials. Items must be placed by 5 a.m. on the days of collection; placement the night before is recommended.

The Florida Townsend Colony and Fortuna Acres cleanups are open to residents who live within the following boundaries:

Florida Townsend Colony:

North: Robertson Trail
East: Iverson Road
South: Bailey Trail
West: Livingston Avenue

Fortuna Acres and Speedway Park

North: Dhanmandi Circle/South 49th Avenue
East: 78th Street
South: Madison Avenue
West: 66th Street

The cleanup opportunity is funded through annual solid waste assessments paid by community property owners. Hillsborough County Code Enforcement encourages residents to take advantage of the disposal and restore their property to avoid code violations. Yard waste, commercial vehicle tires, and hazardous chemicals will not be accepted. For information, call Code Enforcement at (813) 274-6600.
