Board recognizes Children's Board for its dedication to the health and well-being of the region's children
During the April 3 Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners meeting, the Board presented a proclamation declaring April 2024 as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Rebecca Bacon, executive director of the Children's Board of Hillsborough County, accepted the recognition.
The Board of County Commissioners and the Children's Board of Hillsborough County support programs and advocacy efforts that benefit children and families by preventing abuse. The Children's Board's Keeping Kids Safe Partnership, in collaboration with Prevent Child Abuse Florida's Pinwheels for Prevention campaign, the Florida Department of Children and Families, Champions for Children, and Ounce of Prevention Florida, engage and educate the community to prevent child abuse and neglect.
After accepting the proclamation, Bacon thanked the Board and said that child abuse prevention is always possible, and that everyone plays a role.
"It can be as simple as being a good neighbor, mentoring a new parent, helping a family find resources, or volunteering with an organization that supports children and families," she said.
