Hillsborough County, Fla. (March 28, 2024) - Mark your calendars for upcoming events at New Tampa Performing Arts Center (NTPAC). Tickets are on sale for the following events and performances:

USF New Tampa Jazz Series: Jack Wilkins Acadian Rhythms CD Release Concert on Thursday, April 4, at 8 p.m.

  • Saxophonist Jack Wilkins, the University of South Florida's longtime director of jazz studies, will debut his new recording, Acadian Rhythms. For his seventh album, the music grew from his experience in 2022 as artist-in-residence at Acadia National Park in Maine and reflects the beauty and the stories he discovered there. The 11 members of the ensemble include major players from the Tampa Bay area and Central Florida, and special guests including drummer Danny Gottlieb. Tickets available through Tampa Jazz Club.

The Concert Grand presented by NTPAC and Steinway Tampa Bay on Friday, April 5, at 7 p.m.

  • New Tampa Performing Arts Center has a brand-new Steinway & Sons concert grand piano. In partnership with Steinway Tampa Bay, The Concert Grand will celebrate the acquisition of the Steinway Model D concert grand piano. Patrons will have the opportunity to hear the world-class instrument through performances from acclaimed Tampa Bay pianists in both jazz and classical disciplines. Artists will be available for a meet-and-greet after the concert. Free admission. Guests must reserve tickets in advance at NewTampaArtsCenter.org/tickets.

New Tampa Players Presents Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (A Penguin Project and Ampersand Theatre Production) on April 19, 20, and 21.

  • One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, 11 brothers, and the coat of many colors. Penguin Project is a theater program for children and young adults with special needs. Simon Lasky Group For The Dreamers Album Launch Concert on Monday, April 22, at 8 p.m.

  • Simon Lasky Group will perform material from their latest album For The Dreamers, plus brand-new material from Lasky's jazz octet, comprising some of the finest players from the Tampa Bay area jazz scene. General admission tickets are $15 and can be purchased at NewTampaArtsCenter.org/tickets.

New Tampa Unplugged: Reflections Chamber Ensemble on Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m.

  • The Reflections Chamber Ensemble has been presenting chamber music from the 20th and 21st centuries to Tampa Bay audiences for over 20 years. They have commissioned new works, presented the music of young newcomers, and have staged well-known masterworks such as Pierrot Lunaire. A commitment to presenting a wide variety of new music not often heard in concert has been their mission since founding. Tickets are $13 for a theater seat and $15 for a table seat and can be purchased at NewTampaArtsCenter.org/tickets.

Film Series

Enjoy classic movies on the big screen in NTPAC's state-of-the-art theater. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at NewTampaArtsCenter.org/tickets.

Kids Film Series: Sing

  • Saturday, April 27, at 10 a.m.
  • Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing follows Buster Moon, a dapper koala who stages a gala singing competition in order to save his theater.

Broadway Film Series: Into The Woods

  • Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m.
  • In this adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical, a witch curses a baker and his wife, binding their fates to fairy tale characters like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Jack of Jack and the Beanstalk. The cast includes stars like Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, and more.
