Check out these resolutions:

Learn a new language

If you have been dreaming of learning a new language, maybe the new year is the perfect time to start. The library offers free courses through Mango Languages that prepare you for realistic conversations and everyday communication in over 70 languages.

Take a trip abroad

Travelling to a new country is a great way to get out of your comfort zone and experience something new. If you're planning a trip in the new year, the library has several resources to help you prepare. You can apply for a U.S. passport at select library locations. The library also has several resources to help you plan your trip, including a travel checklist, packing guides, TSA tips, and access to Frommer's guidebooks. Bon voyage!

Commit to reading one book per month

Whether you prefer hard copies or e-books, creating a consistent reading habit is a great new year's goal. Start by applying for your library card either online or in-person at your local branch. With your card, you have access to Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative's immense collection of books. You can also access Libby or Hoopla to instantly download digital materials to your device.

Unplug the family for one day each week

In the new year, commit to one day each week for the entire family to unplug from electronic devices. The library makes this commitment easy with several non-screen time ideas for the whole family. For kids, the library offers Vox Books and Wonderbooks, which are audio books attached to print books for a read-a-long experience. Some library branches also offer microscopes, telescopes, math games, and anatomy models. While the kids are engaged, parents can sit back with a good book or listen to an audio book or music.

Advance your career

If your new year's goal is to apply for a new job or talk to your boss about a promotion, the library offers several online resources to support you. With your library card, you can access Peterson's Career Prep for resume help, career recommendations, and job advice.
