Join a member of the Environmental Lands Management team under the light of the full moon on the "Savannah Trail" through Blackwater Creek Nature Preserve.
You'll join your hike leader, Rebecca Winch, watch the sun set over the pines as we hike down to beautiful Blackwater Creek, looking and listening for wildlife in the twilight. Starting the hike early and through sunset will give your eyesight time to naturally adjust and enjoy the hike by the light of a nearly-full moon. You'll have better opportunities to see wildlife like fox squirrels, owls, deer, and more. This hike is an excellent event for someone wants to try a longer hike, but doesn't want to go alone, or anyone interested in learning more about the preserve and it's ecosystem.
This hike is longer than our usual night hikes (6.4 miles), so make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks and be prepared for several hours of brisk hiking.
