Solstice Sunset Hike

Celebrate the winter solstice by joining a member of the Environmental Lands Management team on this guided hike on the "Horseshoe Crab Hustle" trail through Cockroach Bay Nature Preserve. You'll join your hike leader traveling to the top of "Mount Cockroach" and take in the views as the sun sets over the preserve, watching for wildlife like bobcats, spoonbills, and eagles. Your hike leader will also discus the history of the preserve, the shell mounds, and the restoration of this site to the environmental icon of over 500 acres of wetlands, coastal, and uplands habitats it is today.

• Cost: $5
• Register before the event
• Meet in the main preserve parking lot, this is SOUTH of the office, located at 27°41'28.7"N 82°30'05.7"W
• Minimum age requirement: 10 years or older
• Participants under 18 should be accompanied by an adult
• Maximum participants: 20
• Hike length: 1.7 miles
• Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome
• Weather-related cancellations possible (no rain checks)
