Celebrate environmentalist Violet Cury's birthday with a dog-friendly hike!
Join the Environmental Lands Management Team for a special hike to celebrate Violet Cury, namesake of the preserve and environmental champion, and her legacy on her birthday weekend. Violet was a lover and protector of animals, so to make her birthday celebration more fun, leashed dogs are welcome to join the hike!
This leisurely hike is about .55 miles, with optional trails to explore at the end on your own. Your guides will look for native plants and wildlife as you hike towards the old homestead site. You'll hear tales of Violet's adventures growing up in wild Hillsborough County, and you'll learn what makes Violet Cury Nature Preserve unique from the dedicated staff who manage the land.
After your hike, to celebrate what would be her 107th birthday, cupcakes (and pupcakes for the dogs) will be served at the end of the program!
