The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Florida Division of Emergency Management have received an application from Hillsborough County for federal grant funding. Final notice is hereby given of FEMA's consideration to provide funding through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP).
This project proposes the purchase and installation of new, reliable generators at each pump station. These generators will ensure seamless transitions from utility power to backup power during outages, safeguarding the health and safety of residents and protecting the environment from potential wastewater spills.
Hillsborough County values community input and looks forward to ensuring continued safety and service for residents through this project. Comments are solicited from the public; local, state or federal agencies; and other interested parties in order to consider and evaluate the impacts of the proposed project.
Public engagement
The public engagement period for comments will run from March 15-31, 2025.
