Fire Hydrant Locations
Purpose
To obtain approval of the criteria for fire hydrant locations and authorization for the installation of fire hydrants.
Policy
The Board of County Commissioners authorizes and approves fire hydrant installations at a maximum of 2000 ft. intervals except where service demand indicates a lesser spacing. Approved use of distribution lines is shown below:

*Gallons per minute at 20 psi residual pressure during maximum hour demand.
Responsibilities
The Department of Water and Wastewater Utilities shall coordinate with the Hillsborough County Fire and Emergency Management Department during the development of plans for transmission and distribution line expansion or replacement for the installation of fire hydrants in accordance with the adopted policy of the Board of County Commissioners. Initial cost for fire hydrants shall be considered a part of the transmission, distribution line expansion or replacement cost. A “Readiness to Serve Charge” of $45 per hydrant shall be paid annually by the County Fire and Emergency Management Department to the Department of Water and Wastewater Utilities.
