Installation of Roadside Memorial Marker Signs
Purpose
The purpose of this policy, based upon concern for transportation safety and the education of the roadway user, is to define the procedure for the application, placement, and removal of Roadside Memorial Markers in the rights-of-way of unincorporated Hillsborough County.
Policy
It is the policy of the Board of County Commissioners to authorize the County Administrator to initiate a program of safety through education by standardized limited duration signage; similar to the Florida Department of Transportation Roadside Memorial Marker program. There shall be no cost to the citizen for this service.
Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the Public Works Department, Traffic Services Division to administer the program and to fabricate the original marker, install, and remove the markers in accordance with adopted Administrative Directives.
