Policy on Landscaping within Road Rights-of-Way
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to provide uniform guidelines for the design and implementation of roadway landscaping projects expected to be achieved through both public and private effort.
Policy
Hillsborough County will develop Road Right-of-Way Landscaping Guidelines and implementation procedures which will accomplish the following:
- To allow and encourage beautification projects on collector and neighborhood roads by individuals, groups associations, and commercial establishments that would basically address the residential community; and,
- To provide for the beautification of the County's major arterial roadways by including landscaping in the design, construction, and general improvement of those road projects; and,
- To provide for beautifying the major visual approaches, gateways, or significant areas on the County's freeways, expressways, and arterial connectors by a cooperative endeavor between the State, County, Municipal governments, and the overall business community.
Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the County Administrator, or his designee, to annually prepare an itemized cost estimate, and submit to the Board of County Commissioners, a program which meets the Boards specified goals and objectives.
