Donations of Computer Equipment Declared as Surplus
Purpose
To provide a policy for the equitable donation of computer equipment declared as surplus to non-profit organizations within Hillsborough County that are making the computer equipment available to the public to learn computer skills. Non-profit organizations that are addressing the needs of children, the elderly, and veterans are examples of such organizations.
Policy
It is the policy of the Board of County Commissioners that non-profit organizations within Hillsborough County that are properly registered with the Surplus Property section and that have a documented program that will make donated computers available to the public, and especially to groups of citizens that would otherwise not have access to computers, be given preference in receiving donations of computer equipment. Organizations that enhance and support Hillsborough County Government programs and whose documented programs will serve children who would otherwise not have access to computers will be the highest preference.
Responsibility
It is the responsibility of the Surplus Property Section of the Facilities Management Division to develop, publish, and implement procedures to qualify non-profit organizations to receive preference in obtaining donations of computer equipment and to ensure that the needs of the qualified non-profit organizations are equitably met.
