Sale of County Owned Surplus Real Property Policy
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to establish guidance for the implementation of Chapter 125, Section 125.35, Florida Statutes, pertaining to the sale of county owned Surplus Property.
Policy
The Board of County Commissioners is authorized to sell and convey any property belonging to the county, whenever such Board shall determine that it is in the best interest of the county to do so. This includes properties acquired through Tax Foreclosure Suits and previously declared surplus by the Board of County Commissioners; Properties acquired by purchase or donation, but no longer needed by the county and declared surplus by the Board of County Commissioners; and properties which escheat to the county under the provisions of Section 197.241 (5) Florida Statues, vesting title to the Board of County Commissioners by Tax Deed, and declared surplus by the Board of County Commissioners.
Responsibilities
The Real Estate Department, under the direction of the County Administrator, will establish and execute by Administrative Directive, the procedures necessary to accomplish sale of county owned surplus property.
