Energy Efficiency/Conservation
Purpose
To reduce utility (electricity, water, natural gas and other fuels) operating costs of County facilities and operations.
Policy
County agencies and departments will incorporate energy efficiency in the daily operation of their facilities and/or area of responsibility. Energy efficiency will also be considered while maintaining existing equipment and facilities, when replacing and for retrofitting equipment or facilities, and in new construction. County agencies and departments will promote energy conservation in their areas of responsibility.
Responsibilities
Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners shall direct County agencies and departments to include within the scope of design services for equipment replacement, building retrofit, new construction and daily operation, wherever appropriate, provisions for the evaluation and implementation of energy reducing technologies. Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners will encourage elected and appointed officials to follow the same policy.
