Poverty Guidelines
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to establish a system to set income and eligibility criteria for human services programs.
Policy
It is the policy of the Board of County Commissioners to increase income guidelines for its medical assistance programs annually in concert with increases in the Federal Poverty Guidelines each spring.
This policy will allow the County to synchronize its programs for low-income medical recipients, eliminate confusion and avoid dramatic budgetary impacts.
Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the County Administrator, through the County’s human services programs, to monitor the Federal Poverty Guidelines and annually revise the County guidelines to reflect the same levels.
