Fees for Installation of Traffic Control Devices
Purpose
To establish fees at cost for the installation of traffic control devices on new subdivision roads proposed for acceptance by the county for maintenance.
Policy
The Board of County Commissioners approves and adopts the schedule of fees for the installation of traffic control devices, such as regulatory, information and warning signs, and/or pavement markings on new subdivision roads which are proposed for acceptance by the County for maintenance.
The County Administrator is authorized to make adjustments to the fee schedule based upon changes recommended by the Engineering Department.
Responsibilities
The Engineering Department reviews final plats of new subdivisions and estimates the quantities and initial cost of traffic control devices required to provide adequate information to the motoring public on proposed public roads. Prepayment of the cost of control devices is required prior to recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners for acceptance of final plats for recording and acceptance of roads for County maintenances.
The Traffic Maintenance Unit will install the appropriate traffic control devices after Board acceptance of roads for county maintenance.
The Engineering Department will annually review costs of labor and materials for the installation of traffic control devices and make recommendation to the County Administrator for adjustments to the fee schedule.
