Performance Measurement

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to provide the public with quantifiable objectives for each organization and statistics on performance that can be compared over time, and against similar organizations in other jurisdictions. Objectives and measures provide the public with information on outcomes resulting from the investment of public funds in an organization’s operations.

Policy

It is the policy of the BOCC that performance measures be developed for all organizations to provide information on workload, efficiency and effectiveness. Comparative information should be provided in budget documents for a minimum of three or four years--the previous year, the current year, and the upcoming budget year or years. Selection of measures shall reflect quantifiable key objectives for each organization, “industry standards”, and the availability of data.

Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of the Management and Budget Department, under the direction of the County Administrator, to implement this policy.
