News Releases by Individual Commissioners

Purpose

A policy to press releases by individual commissioners to be sent directly from that commissioner’s office, and not through the Communications department.

Background

At the Board’s February 15, 2017 meeting, the Board discussed the use of the Communications Department to disseminate that commissioner’s individual press release. There was further discussion regarding the use of a commissioners’ own county letterhead.

Policy

Any news release sent by any member of the Board of County Commissioners that requires the dissemination of resources of communication and the Communications Department which uses the Board of County Commissioners’ logo and/or the BOCC news template must first be approved by the Board of County Commissioners.

Exception

This Policy does not apply to Commissioner Town Hall and Commissioner Community Office Hour news releases.
