This year, Hillsborough County Aging Services proudly wrapped up National Adult Day Services Week 2026 with two successful events that brought together nearly 100 seniors, caregivers, and community members for education, connection, and support.
Held Sept. 21-27, this nationally recognized week highlights the essential programs that help older adults thrive.
A Walk in Their World - Understanding Alzheimer's
In recognition of World Alzheimer's Day, attendees stepped into the lived experience of individuals facing Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Families, caregivers, and residents explored the challenges of memory loss through interactive demonstrations and expert-led resources.

- Virtual Dementia Tour - an immersive simulation that deepened empathy and awareness
- Free Memory Screenings
- Alzheimer's Association Brain Bus - offering quick tips, caregiver tools, and education
Balance Boulevard - Fall Prevention Fair
Falls remain one of the leading causes of injury among older adults, but many fall risks can be prevented through awareness, early detection, and healthy habits. The Balance Boulevard event focused on empowering seniors and caregivers with tools to stay safe and steady.
Event highlights included:
- Interactive balance and mobility screenings covering vision, hearing, strength, blood pressure, cholesterol, foot health, and more
- Practical home safety guidance to help reduce fall risks
- Access to local senior health and wellness professionals for personalized advice
