Residents invited to learn about proposal for County-owned property near Oak Crest and Hawk Springs

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Aug. 19, 2026) - Hillsborough County is inviting residents to learn more and provide feedback on a proposal that could bring new recreational improvements and enhanced emergency access to a County-owned property in the Bloomingdale area.

The proposal involves an 11.85-acre County-owned parcel located between the Oak Crest subdivision and the future Hawk Springs subdivision. The property includes a 7.5-acre stormwater pond and approximately 4.35 acres designated for park and recreational use. The property has been owned by Hillsborough County since 2003.

Under the proposal, the County property would be transferred to the proposer who intends to develop a new community adjacent to the parcel with the developer's new homeowners association responsible for owning and maintaining the parcel and proposed improvements.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Public access to an enhanced recreational walking path
  • Perimeter fencing and gated entrances
  • Trash cans and pet waste stations
  • An alternative emergency vehicle route for area residents and first responders during major storm events

Public Engagement Opportunity

The County will hold a public meeting to collect community input on Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room inside Cimino Elementary School, 4329 Culbreath Rd., Valrico, FL 33594.
