Hillsborough County, Fla. (July 15, 2026) - More than three dozen affordable homes soon will be coming to Wimauma. On Thursday, July 16, Florida Home Partnership will break ground on Magnolia Garden Square, a 38-home community aimed at working families in Wimauma.
Hillsborough County provided $1 million in Home Investment Partnership Program funds for the project.
The homes will be two-bedroom villas or three-bedroom townhomes. All 38 of the single-family homes will be for those making 80% or less than the Area Median Income (AMI). Five of the homes will be reserved for those making 50-60% of AMI, and five will be for those making less than 50% of AMI.
Each homeowner will be required to contribute at least 600 hours of sweat equity for the construction of their or a neighbor's home.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be at 11 a.m. at the corner of Vel Street and 12th Street in Wimauma.
