Hillsborough County takes open house-style events into communities to update residents on projects in their neighborhoods

Hillsborough County, Fla. (July 10, 2026) - Hillsborough County is hosting an open house event on Tuesday evening in Plant City to help residents learn about Public Works services and projects in their community.

This is the first of these new quarterly events that will take place at locations throughout the county. Tuesday's event is at Plant City High School Cafeteria, 1 Raider Pl., Plant City, FL 33563. Other events will follow to share information about projects taking place in other parts of the county.

The forums provide area residents the opportunity to learn about Public Works projects and services and engage one on one with subject matter experts in all aspects of the department's operations.

The event will have an open house-style format with information tables set up around the room for Traffic Engineering, Stormwater Engineering, Mosquito Management, Customer Resolution, Transportation Maintenance, and Capital Projects. Project planners will share details of major projects in Plant City such as the Pemberton/Baker Creek stormwater conveyance analysis, surtax-funded resurfacing projects, and regional road corridor improvement projects. Public Works staff will demonstrate helpful tools like the Capital Improvement Projects Viewer that residents can use to stay in-the-know about how their tax dollars are being invested.

Residents will be able to talk to subject matter experts about a wide range of topics, from controlling the mosquito population around their homes to getting help with issues like broken sidewalks and potholes.
