The program for women and men 55 and over is open to the public
Hillsborough County, Fla. (April 2, 2026) - Hillsborough County Aging Services is partnering with the National Council on Aging to offer free bone density screenings, and an expert will present a lecture on ways to maintain bone health.
The Bone Health Education and Screening Initiative is for women and men 55 and over and will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 6, at the Oaks at Riverview Senior Center, 101 E. Kirby St., Tampa, FL 33604.
Individuals 55 and over are at higher risk of osteoporosis and bone fractures. The goal of the program is to increase awareness of osteoporosis and the available resources and steps to take to help support bone health.
The bone screening will help determine a person's bone density using a painless, non-invasive test. Participants will be able to take their printed test results to their health care providers for further evaluation, diagnosis, and follow-up care. The program will also include an expert's lecture on bone health and suggestions on how to talk to your doctor about bone health.
