Hillsborough County, Fla. (March 17, 2026) - Hillsborough County Economic Development's Small Business Enterprises Division is offering a Small Contractor Development Program to help small business enterprises develop construction and business management skills that can potentially increase their ability to do business with the County.
The Small Contractor Development Program aims to help participants build skills through five weeks of in-classroom training, technical assistance, and counseling. Upon completion of each course, a certificate of achievement will be awarded to each participant.
The programs offered are:
- Construction Bonding
- Construction Accounting
- Management & Administration: Field Operations and Project Management
- Estimating and Bidding
- Marketing Strategies & AI Business Integration
- Legal: Claims and Disputes
The training will be held each Saturday from April 18 through May 16. Businesses interested in participating must apply and register by March 23.
The Small Contractor Development Program is offered twice per year in a five-week format of classroom training and technical assistance. The program is free of charge to Small Business Enterprise registered businesses. Class size is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
