Board celebrates nonprofit for its dedication to supporting residents in need of affordable housing
The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners presented a proclamation declaring March 4, 2026 as Habitat for Humanity of Tampa Bay Hillsborough Day. Tina Forcier, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Tampa Bay Hillsborough, accepted the recognition during the March 4 Board Meeting.
Since its founding in 1987, Habitat for Humanity of Tampa Bay Hillsborough has built and repaired over 650 homes - more than 100 in the past two years - for residents struggling to find safe, stable, affordable places to live. The nonprofit organization additionally supports military veterans with affordable homeownership and home repairs, and the Aging in Place initiative helps seniors stay in their homes safely and with dignity.
After accepting the proclamation, Forcier thanked the Board and said that the acknowledgement highlights the importance of affordable home ownership to the people of Hillsborough County.
"Habitat for Humanity of Tampa Bay Hillsborough's aim is to break the cycle of poverty through home ownership," she said. "By doing so, we are able to reduce the burden on other public subsidy that is needed because these families have the ability to afford their necessities."
The Board also presented a commendation recognizing Truth, Faith, & Action Alliance, a nonprofit organization which provides vital nonpartisan education, volunteer initiatives, and outreach efforts designed to promote informed participation, respect for the rule of law, and civic responsibility.
