Grant amounts of up to $5,000 available for neighborhood improvement projects
Hillsborough County Neighborhood Relations is now accepting applications for the 2026 Neighborhood Mini-Grant Program. Eligible neighborhood associations can apply for funds up to $5,000 to strengthen and engage their communities through innovative and creative community projects.
Last year's grant recipients included 16 neighborhoods with projects ranging from a neighborhood spring fling event to a green space reclamation project, a Free Little Library fixture, and a bocce court canopy and paver installation.
Palma Ceia Neighborhood Association, a grant recipient, found an exciting way to bring residents together by hosting a pop-up art event spotlighting local businesses and celebrating the creative spirit that shapes their neighborhood. Another recipient, Magnolia Lakes POA, established a peace garden, clearing overgrown vegetation and planting Florida-friendly landscaping - creating a peaceful space for residents to relax in and enjoy.
The 2026 Neighborhood Mini-Grant project categories are:
- Healthy Neighborhood: Fostering a healthy community through conservation, environmental stewardship, or healthy lifestyles.
- Safe Neighborhood: Projects or programs that prepare residents with knowledge and tools that teach them how to prevent, confront, and/or respond to situations that threaten the safety of the community.
- Engaged Neighborhood: Unique projects that engage and bring neighbors together.
