The 12-day, Olympics-style competition offers contests for all skills and fitness levels
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 26, 2025) - The 2025 Active Life Games will kick off Monday, Sept. 29, with opening ceremonies and a talent show.
Organized by Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation, the Active Life Games helps promote physical and mental fitness through an Olympic-style competition over 12 days that attracts hundreds of adults age 50 and older each year.
Opening ceremonies begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Barksdale Senior Center, 1801 N. Lincoln Ave., Tampa, FL 33607. The talent show begins at 10:30 a.m. at the same location.
The Active Life Games began in the 1980s and offers a variety of contests for all skill and fitness levels. The 2025 Active Life Games will be held Sept. 29-Oct. 10, with events ranging from track and field to shuffleboard to pickleball to billiards and horseshoes. Individual competitions are held over two weeks at a variety of locations throughout Hillsborough County.
In addition to being a lot of fun and a great way to stay in shape, the Games serve as a regional qualifier for the Florida Senior Games.
