Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 23, 2025) - As part of the Progress Village Regional Drainage Improvements project, Hillsborough County Public Works will close the intersection at Ash Avenue and South 83rd Street for up to 60 days after the current closure of Progress Boulevard at 83rd Street is complete and that roadway is reopened.
The regional drainage improvement project is necessary to reduce roadway flooding and improve overall water quality.
The closure is expected to begin Oct. 22, and the road is expected to reopen in late 2025 or early 2026. As with any construction project, inclement weather may impact and delay the work. Drivers will be advised to use South 85th Street, Fir Drive, and South 82nd Street as alternate routes around the closure, and the detour route will be marked with road signage. A request for approval of the 60-day road closure will be heard by the Board of County Commissioners at its Oct. 15, 2025, meeting.
Public Engagement Opportunity
The County will conduct a virtual public engagement using the Hillsborough Engagement & Education Hub to educate the public about the intersection closure. Comment for this project is open until Sept. 26. Visit HCFL.gov/HCEngage to participate. For information, call Hillsborough County Public Works at (813) 635-5400.
