Hillsborough County, Fla. (Aug. 12, 2025) - Happy 813 Day, Hillsborough County!

Hillsborough County celebrates 813 Day on Aug. 13 - recognizing the county's telephone area code.

Decades ago, the State of Florida had one area code. It was 305. In 1953, 813 was established, covering the Gulf Coast of Florida. In 1998, Hillsborough County became the 813.

813 Day is a day to celebrate Hillsborough County and recognize its residents, natural surroundings, history, heritage, arts, vibrant lifestyle, sports teams, and location, to name a few highlights.

Hillsborough County will highlight things that are uniquely 813 on its social media channels. This year -- for #813Day -- Hillsborough County will highlight pillars of the Hillsborough County community with yearbook-style superlatives, such as Best Sense of Humor, Best (Puppy) Eyes, Best Dressed (in a Costume), Most Athletic, and Most Likely to Succeed, to name a few.
