Interested residents must submit required information to Hillsborough County
Hillsborough County residents have another opportunity to obtain Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance to repair their homes from recent storm damage.
The FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance Program (FMA) is administered through a partnership with the State of Florida, and is for storm-damage repair, even if a resident was denied assistance through the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) Elevate Florida Grant program.
Program process
The FMA program operates on a reimbursement basis; homeowners must initially cover all project costs. The program is highly competitive, and a typical process from Notice of Interest (NOI) to project completion can take 5 to 10 years.
- To be considered for assistance, residents must submit information directly to Hillsborough County and not FDEM. The County, acting as a program sub-applicant, will then submit the application to FDEM.
- To be eligible to submit an FMA application, a NOI form must be submitted to the County by Monday, Aug. 18, 2025.
- The NOI must be emailed to FloodplainAdmin@hcfl.gov.
- Project-specific information within the NOI is to be completed by the homeowner.
- Community-specific information will be completed by County staff.
