Improvements will offer fun activities for foster children and kids affected by trauma

Hillsborough County, Fla. (June 4, 2025) - New Life Village offers a safe home and a chance for stability for children impacted by foster care or trauma. Now, those children have an exciting new place to play outdoors.

On Thursday, June 5, New Life Village will unveil a new athletic facility with a football/soccer field, basketball court, and new flooring for the playground. The sports and play area will be an important part of the New Life Village campus, an intergenerational community designed to support families raising children who had been in the foster care system or were at risk of entering the foster care system. Senior citizens also live in New Life Village as surrogate grandparents, tutors, and mentors.

Hillsborough County helped fund more than $900,000 of the project. The County has previously helped fund other improvements at New Life Village, including a community garden and splash pad in 2019 and 16 new townhomes that opened in 2023.

Thursday's ribbon-cutting ceremony will include football, basketball, and other games, a barbecue lunch, DJ, and dedication of the basketball court to fallen heroes. The event will take place at 11 a.m. at New Life Village, 49626 Venice Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33619.
