Hillsborough County, Fla. (June 2, 2025) - The public can learn about the progress of the Van Dyke Road PD&E study at a Public Hearing on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Hillsborough County, in coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Seven, is planning a corridor improvement project of about 3.47 miles of Van Dyke Road from Gunn Highway to the east side of Whirley Road, including the Cee Bee Project Mitigation Site, located west of the project corridor. The Project Development & Environment (PD&E) study will evaluate design options for roadway improvements along the corridor. This hearing also serves as an opportunity for public comments on the Section 4(f) de minimis impacts to Lake Park.

The public will learn more about the project and have an opportunity to provide feedback at the public hearing.

People who choose to attend the virtual public hearing session must do so through a computer, tablet, or smartphone via Webex at the project website, publicinput.com/vandykestudy.

The proposed corridor improvement project includes the widening of the existing two‐lane undivided roadway to a four‐lane divided roadway with a raised median, from west of Suncoast Parkway to east of Whirley Road, including a multi‐use trail for bicycles and pedestrians.

Draft PD&E documents will be available for public viewing from May 27, 2025, to June 27, 2025, on the project website and at the following locations:

  • Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library, 2902 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa, FL 33618. Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
  • Hillsborough County Center Lobby, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL 33602. Hours of operation: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The design concepts, display boards, and video presentation from the in‐person session will be available for review online starting June 10, 2025, publicinput.com/vandykestudy.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the public hearing starts with an informal open house, where the public can view the draft project concept plans, ask questions, and provide comments to Hillsborough County Public Works representatives. The formal public hearing begins at 6:30 p.m. with the public comment period for those who wish to make a formal public comment. Following the formal presentation, the informal open house will resume until 7:30 p.m. A court reporter will be available to receive comments in a one‐on‐one setting at the in‐person session.
